There are several good rebuttals to this news story, and the study it's based on, but you probably won't find them on Fox News. Long story short, some are still trying to describe normality with outliers, and only presenting part of the data (i.e., cherry-picking in politically motivated ways).

Looking forward to reading those rebuttals. Links to them here would be great. Thanks.

I've interacted with some of the people who work in the fast food industry who complain about getting better pay. A lot of very confident and intelligent people working in this industry but in my opinion, it's really not about getting $15 an hour for better pay because that's the job they are choosing for their career. It's because that's a job that doesn't require a drug test. They want a good paying job but also want to not be subjected to drug tests.

I have noted this in a number of folks, as well. As a matter of fact, I've noted a number of folks with positive drug tests working in various fields where I would have thought they'd be tested regularly for safety or other reasons... it amazes me how many fields/employers don't routinely do this. Scary, really.

This is pretty simple a $15 minimum wage for a $5 dollar is almost as dumb as the government paying $2000 for a hammer. This kind of law and moreover the progressive agenda in general if taken to its logical conclusion will simply eliminate motivation and ambition over time. Why try to better yourself when you can flip burgers for $15 an hour and the government will give you the rest? This law was a bad idea, like Obamacare companies simply adjust and reduce full time positions and hours worked etc. Is it true that there are single parents out there that are in a bind? That have kids to feed? That have bills to pay, housing, cars, credit cards? Yes they sure do and many of them have likely made some poor choices to get in the situation they are in. And with the government as there safety net they never really feel the sting of their bad decisions. This is how you destroy the fabric of a country, this mentality alone will be the end of this Rebublic. Everyone should have to pay for (and live with the consequences of) their poor choices I know I sure have and in some cases still do. You should also enjoy the fruit born from your good decision as well, today the progressive movement wants to tell me we are glad you made good choices, now it's time to pay up for others who didn't.

YukonGlocker: I agree with you, we make the decisions while we are young that affect us the rest of our lives. Why should you pick up my healthcare bill when I failed to provide for myself? With all the free schooling, vocational schools, college grants there are today, there is no reason why an reasonably intelligent individual can't avail themselves of one of the many programs offered and make something of themselves. If I squander my meager salary on gambling, drink, women or drugs, I ask why anyone would want to step up and care for me in my old age.
I did it to myself and am owed nothing by any individual that has worked all their lives and paid their bills, raised their families, their responsibility is to their family, not me. There are those who would say, "It's not being a good Christian or, as Obama repeatedly said, it's not the way we do things in this country." Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain once said, "'The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.'

I educated my step son about this field and he was all about it. Had a full ride to OSUIT for it... then his mother decided it was more important for him to be in the band at OSU and he is taking architecture ...smh

Christianity--like many religions--holds charity to be a virtue, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Picking up a sword and forcing others to "give before it hurts" is pretty much the antithesis of "charity."
