LoneWolf'49 (RIP, sir) used to say that all the time. And he meant it. Rory was his best friend. There will never be another LoneWolf'49. I STILL miss his constant emails, even after all this time.
We had to put Dude down a few months ago because of cancer that was not treatable. He is buried in the back yard with all that we have lost. It never gets easier.
Our Brittany got hit by a truck about a year and half ago. We were bird hunting and she ran across the highway to see a Lab that was over there. She was 11 and began having seizures around 7 years old. A low dose of Phenobarbital returned her to normal. She continued to hunt with vigor and be a great pet after the meds.
I've had three that have a history of seizures. Two are gone now. I found that if you treat the seizures the same as you do in humans, it helps. I keep a small honey bear marked just for this purpose in the kitchen cabinet. I took them to the vet and he prescribed phenobarbital and it works too.
The two dogs I eventually lost knew when they were about to seize and would come to me. I'd give them honey and phenobarbital and hold them in my lap and the seizure would usually subside in five minutes or less.
