Boren has been nothing but another hog feeding at the taxpayer trough almost his entire life. He's pulling down a smart Gov't pension from his years in Washington, and you can bet he's got a golden parachute lined up from OU too.

He gave up his seat back when Oklahoma lost a U.S. Rep Chair, exchanging it for the OU presidency.

He will live out his years in a style not seen by us plebian hordes, and on our money.

Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.
Harrumph! Harrumph!

I saw Boren speak about a month after his quadruple bypass. As he was shuffling up to the stage, I thought 'who is that old geezer'. Didn't realize who it was until he spoke. It's time for him to step down.

Who's to say? I agree on the drive part. I don't see it as throwing your dynasty in the gutter, that's a helluva job. However, I think dealing with all the douchey ND alum and administration would be more trouble than it's worth. But to be honest, I don't care for Bob as AD over Castiglione. I don't think Bob could do a better job than Joe, Joe owns that job IMO.

Some people would think he values ND higher than OU after all he's done there if he went. Reality may be different but it would go over that way.

Castiglione's shoes will be hard to fill when he's gone for sure. Actually I think that he's had a far greater influence, a positive influence anyway, on OU than Boren has. Overall Boren has been good for OU, but it may be time to give Castiglione his due if he want's it. I'm hoping he's happy and content right where he is.

Me too, hope Joe and Bob stay but I'll be surprised if we keep both. I don't agree with Boren politically to say the least, but what he's done academically for OU deserves a lot of praise.
