Not sure if this is the right place to post but I did not see a better area.

Does anyone know a place that does hot bluing near Ponca? The item I have is not a gun or part but a battle axe. It may just not fit in a normal tank but I cant even find anyone to ask.

The axe is my son's, I am going to have some engraving done on it after cleaning up and polishing the factory welds. Getting it done for his birthday. I would also like to build a leather guard for both sides to keep it safe after sharpening, I may need to find a leather shop also.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it greatly. Thank You.

There was a gunsmith in Ponca that did a lot of bluing, but he quit. The cost of disposing spent chemicals was more than he could charge and make a profit.

That was about what I was thinking, getting hard to find anyone that does bluing, let alone close to home. The size of this axe would be a bit costly to ship two ways.

Speaking of rust and bluing, do any of you folks have a problem like my son? He has a (for lack of a better term) acidic touch.

Metal that he touches will rust. About 10 years ago we were at a gun store and the boy did not have his "gun gloves" he does not touch a gun with out them. The reason is simple, he touches one and it must be cleaned and oiled right then. NO WAITING. He can not go dove hunting and not destroy the finish on a gun, ask how I know, :( they rust that quickly. So he has cotton "gun gloves". Simple and easy fix to his hands.

At the gun store he was interested in a 12g, but all he could do was look at it while I was holding it. The clerk wanting a sale real bad told him to check it out, my son did what he has for years, explained why he was not holding the gun. The clerk said he would wipe the gun down and oil it as soon as he was done looking.

Well about a month later we are back in the same place and man we had two guys mad at us. Seems like they had a shotgun that looked hideous, it had rusted FINGER PRINTS all over the metal. The clerk did not wipe that gun down. My son bought the gun at a great discount, after all it looked really bad. :)

To me if a customer were to tell me of such a thing I would clean the gun very well, why not? Heck all guns need wiped down before being put back on the shelf, he gave them fair warning.
