Picked up this scope at a pawn shop today but know nothing about the scope. It was on a deer rifle for years and got it for next to nothing.
Heres some very poor pictures I took of it. Any info would be good.
Glass is great and it has nice crosshairs I tried to capture but not a very clear picture.
Its a VX1 3-9x40

Thought about trying it out on the Colt AR. What do you think?
I was afraid that's what you were thinking (that's why I threw in the line about "a finely blued rifle").:lookaroun I really like that little 1-4x, but I know from experience that it is not a target scope. It is certainly easier to hit your target with a 9x (even better yet, 18x), so it would be worth your while to try it. You could always change it back later.....

That's kind of what I planned to do. Just shoot with it for abit and then find an older bolt action that this would make shine.

Well I put the scope on the Colt AR and took it to the range. A lot of rounds to get it zeroed (cold zero at 100) lot of work.
After I dropped about 300 rounds, called it a day. It was nice and I love the small reticle but I was thinking about the use of my ar and decided to put the leupold pig plex 1-4x. It's a great scope and made for either close or distance shooting. I can hit within 6 inches at 100 and can ring a silhouette at 300. That's what this gun is made to do. If I decide to replace it, it will be with an ACOG (if I hit the lottery).
Good day to shoot but windy as heck.
