both 4x4: 4Runner or Grand Cherokee Limited.
Do you want “All Wheel Drive”? The 4 runner limited is an all wheel drive vehicle. Full time 4x4 the sr5’s and trails are 2 or 4 wheel drive, I didn’t care for the allwheel drive. Plus the 4Runner SR5 and Trail models have a different front end and don’t look like the limited models. The Trail Preimium has a lot of the bells and whistles

I'd test drive each one and then decide. We all know that back in the day the Toyota or Honda would run forever but i am not so sure there is that much of a gap these days in quality to buy a vehicle that "may" run longer but is not as comfortable to drive or fit your arse as well. I think both vehicles in question look very nice but would give the nod to the GC for any kind of off road prowess in stock form. Not to mention, i believe Chrysler is still doing the Maxcare Lifetime factory warranties.

I've owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, and two Toyota's.
Hands down get the Toyota.
The Jeep was more comfortable for long trips, but Consumer Reports annual car report rates the jeep the worst for maintenance issues. Dead last.
We had to have the dash removed from our Jeep three times under warranty to repair the servo's that control the heat and air.
If you look on the internet, the past owners complain the tranny's will go out at 80,000 and the engines with crater at 100,000 miles.
Ours made 90K before the tranny went, and 110 K before the engine spun a rod bearing on the way to OKC to trade it in for another vehicle.
I put 351,000 on my Tacoma, and the guy that bought it has put another 50K on it since. You can't beat Toyota for reliability and resale value.

After WWII JEEP was the go-to utility vehicle and then Chrysler bought them out and then began a downward trend in reliability and dependability. Now as some have said the Jeep spends more time in the shop than on the road. A Toyota however, (notice how a comma is always after however?)a Toyota is dependable and will go tens of thousands of miles-usually over 100,000 miles before any maintenance other than oil changes, tires, filters. It is common to see a Toyota with over 200,000 miles but I've yet to see a Jeep over 200,000 miles. If it were me, I'd buy a Toyota and no extended service policy-you won't need it and it's simply money in the dealer's pocket.

I was amazed when joining the Toyota forums to see how many had up to 750,000 miles on their original engines.
One of the funny things I saw on there was that after the apocalypse has ended, there will only be two things left running on this planet......cockroaches and Toyota's.......
