Of course it's a revenue scheme, otherwise they would have been enforcing this law years ago when they implemented it.

I'm ragging on the state because they claim this law is for "safety" when there's safety problems MUCH BIGGER than someone driving in the left lane they could tackle.

You know, growing up, we never really had evidence or saw my little brother actually pee on the toilet seat. But when you wake up in the morning and there's pee on the seat, it's pretty evident who did it, despite "evidence".

So you're saying the state should pass a law making crumbling infrastructure illegal?

BTW, by your own logic, there is no "pee" on the toilet seat. ;)

A statistic would not show it is a revenue generating scheme. It has a built in revenue generating scheme with the fine you must pay for violating the law - a law and revenue generating scheme that did not exist until the law was passed, ergo, no existing statistics to base anything on if it were to be appropriate to base any such answer on statistics.

If the law didn't exist, there would never be a need to complain about a misapplication of the law. (In other words, more revenue for lawyers!)

Why are people going faster in the right lane? Wouldn’t this common sense you speak of tell them to slow down and “be safe”?

If speeding is one of the leading causes of vehicle crashes and deaths then why is someone driving the speed limit in the left lane so dangerous?

We have to get people out of the left lane so people can go fast in the left lane because SAFETY. Huh?

There’s a logical disconnect with that argument but maybe someone who is educated on traffic safety/flow can provide some insight.
"Driving slower than surrounding traffic is more likely to cause an accident than speeding, according to research. Driving 5 mph slower than surrounding traffic is more likely to cause an accident than going 5 mph faster than drivers around you."

Sometimes it takes a precise and complete essay to point out a fallacious claim based upon an absence of evidence. It's better than saying your statement sucks and you are wrong.

You said yourself that we need to wait until the evidence of such presents itself. Why would anyone be expected to produce your asked-for statistics(evidence) before any such statistics(evidence) exists? The truth is in the fact that a substantial fine will be laid and collected upon conviction of breaking the law. That is revenue generation. That is in the law. No "statistics" needed.

As to whether this law does actually save lives and/or help the flow of traffic remains to be seen. It will, without a doubt, at the very least, generate revenue when tickets are written.

If you don't understand the logic behind why the roads are safer if slower cars stay to the right, this video might help.

Makes sense. I don’t left lane camp but
the logic that it “Forces faster drivers to make dangerous moves and pass on the right” is the presupposition I have issue with. “But Officer I was speeding and swerving through traffic because that guy was doing the speed limit in the left lane. It’s not my fault. I’m a victim.” Lol

Nobody is forcing anyone to make dangerous moves. They could just slow down, right? So saying that everyone needs to move over so speeders can speed in the left lane in the name of “safety” is kinda funny.

Why don’t we just crack down on speeding and unsafe “maneuvers”? Those are far less subjective than whether or not someone is “impeding” the left lane aren’t they?

Your getting it. This law is to help curb the dangers of aggressive drivers which we all know are a problem and cant all be stopped. The best way to avoid an aggressive driver accident is to GTFO of their way and let em get on down the road where maybe they will be picked up for speeding and driving dangerously.
