What's going to happen is that gasses are going to be released at levels not dangerous to humans.
If you work in an industry that requires SCBA, you will go through testing to make sure your gas mask doesn't leak, etc by using trace chemicals of the ones that can kill you in seconds at levels that won't harm you, meanwhile letting you know what the odor smells like.
Ponca has a facility that specializes in sensors for the .gov that detect dangerous chemicals, blah, blah. We have .gov aircraft coming in here all the time for fitting whatever they do.
My buddy is an engineer for a major oil company that is doing the same thing.
They inject an odor into a permeable level of oil or gas and drill wells to see how big the field is.
Roll up the foil hats.
