Some good news. Part of it will be back in my account by tomorrow (if not tonight). Basically anything within 24 hours of when I reported it to them is an automatic refund. The rest will be held pending their investigation. This actually accounts for about 60% of was was taken.

Seems like it's not such a bad Credit Union so far. (I've been with them for many, many years, but this is my first experience with them for fraudulent charges)

I went thru this a month ago with $1000 fraudulent charges and then this morning was notified about $800 fraudulent charges. Bank canceled my card both times and sending a new card, the first time took 4 days to get money back into account only because it was on a weekend. So will see how long it takes this time but they did inform me if for some reason i need some cash to go into the bank and ask for a ATM card so i could make a withdraw to get by with.

From what I've read, I don't use the debit card for the gas pump but I do use a credit card for gas purchase as well as buying groceries. I also pay online autopay for ONG, OGE, cell phone and ugh...DirectTV. With using the credit card for all those payments to include hotels when traveling, I build up points good for airfare and other junk. I hardly use the debit card at all. I also have my credit reports frozen at all three credit bureaus and cross my fingers, I've never had fraud hits on my credit cards or checking account...now since I've said that I probably will. Te only instance where I could say fraud was committed was my ex-wife who tried to obtain credit using my credit before I froze the Big three. I don't know if she obtained whatever she wanted (probably not) but I had the episode removed from my credit reports. It's not going to happen again, she's dead.

Here, but occasionally There.
The lesson is do not use debit cards!

I don't know about that. We've used debit cards for years and have had very little trouble with being hacked. As much as anything, one needs a banking institution that really supports their customers. We've been banking with USAA now for about 3 years and have had great service from them. When we were in the OKC/Blanchard/Tuttle/Mustang area, MidFirst Bank worked well for us before we went "on the road."

I had someone charge one of my credit cards last month. It was only 2 charges for a total of about $220. I caught it because I was in the teller line and ask for a print out of all my account balances. That card should have had a zero balance, so I noticed it quickly. The charges had just happened that week. First time anything like that has happened to me. I rarely use that card too.
