Three gun money is a gnat on a flys ass compared to the rest of the gun market. Companies could give a **** about competitors buying guns. They do care about dipshits that will never shoot a match buying competition stuff because that’s one more marketing ploy.

A little late, but here's my reply:
Remington doesn't care at all about 3-gun competitors, true.
But 3-gun competitors care about what Remington puts out, and Remington might have just changed the game on them.

Remington’s quality nowadays is that of Taurus on a good day.. also, that shotgun has no place for any division currently.

Remington's quality is completely trash, no doubt. I'm just glad that Mossberg introduced a mag fed pump at SHOT :)

Now as to competition, that's my whole point. I'm hoping that the 870 DM, and now the mag-fed 500, will *force* multi-gun leagues move mag fed shotguns from Open down into other divisions.

imo, thats a horrible idea. if you cant load a shotgun shell by shell, then one isnt proficient in a shotgun, period. the versatility of loading a shotgun from mounts on the gun itself is a big part of what makes a shotgun a great defensive option.
this lack of skill shouldnt be rewarded.

*tube-fed shotgun. Fixed it for you :) That argument could be re-written that if a person cannot reload a revolver cylinder with loose rounds proficiently, then they don't know how to run a handgun, yet no one bats an eye at speed loaders and/or moon clips. Or box mags in semiautos...

But seriously, there is no reason not to have box mag shotguns everywhere. The single biggest weakness of the shotgun is the tube magazine. That is precisely why 3-gun emphasizes reloading the darn thing so much. Box mags make the gauge a more usable weapon against actual human opponents, period. Isn't the whole point of 3-gun or other multigun comps to simulate (within reason, of course) actually using your weapons defensively? If the heart of the sport is to be proficient with real-world guns, then why do we keep the antiquated tube-fed shotgun around? Every other part of the sport is aluminum rails, polymer frames, electronic sights or low power variables, pushing technology. But the shotgun?

Revolver guys have their own divisions and competitions all the time, and for the same reason.

With respect,

When I say “select slug”, does that phrase in and of itself have any meaning to you?
My friend, shotguns were not invented for three gun competitions.

The beauty of a tube fed gun vs a box mag shotgun is much more than capacity or rate of fire.

and to be able to go from firing buck, buck, buck, buck, 4xin a row, to
buck, buck, slug, buck
Or
Buck, slug, buck, buck
Or any combination thereof, in just a few seconds,
Is priceless in law enforcement or military operations.

I’m guessing you’ve had no formal defensive shotgun instruction.
Do a TDSA or Tom Givens defensive shotgun class, they pop up in Oklahoma a few times a year.

Ps there is no point to 3g or multigun competitions resembling any realistic sort of defensive weapon use. Hasn’t been for awhile. Quad loading, red stop buttons, guns that drop magazines when empty?
