For those interested, this was an item I had for sale. Pokinfun asked a couple of questions that I responded to, the first was what size of the collets and the second was how much would shipping be. I’m sorry I couldn’t answer your questions as soon as you sent them, I do have family obligations to attend too. I answered them as quick as I could. The actual buyer sent a firm I’ll take it and said he’s local right after you asked how much shipping cost would be. So, I went off of time stamps, his being the first I’ll take it. If I had to wait for all the tire kickers in line, we’d never get anything sold on this forum.

Also, the comment about the buyer not knowing the size of the collets was way off the mark. He looked at the picture and saw that the collets sizes were written on the lid of the blue box.

I’ve been a member in great standing on this board for 10 years or so and sold hundreds of items and never once had an issue. I’ve lost out on my fair share because I kicked the tires a bit too long. Guess I’ll start putting a disclaimer with rules at the bottom of each one of my ads so prospective buyers know what methodology I’ll be choosing the winner.

P.S. - I was going to apologize and explain through a PM but I guess I wasn’t quick enough for that either...

I was just wondering how other people handle it because I handled the same situation the exact opposite way. In the end it is $10, which is not enough to get upset about. I do not think you did something immoral, but it is not the way I handled it. If you are good with jumping past the first person asking about your item, then be happy about it.

wahhh wahhh I didnt get what I wanted, even though at no time did it ever actually belong to me.

thats what whining on a gun board sounds like
It was not whining, but what you are doing is how a child starts an argument between members. I am not mad at SDarkRage, even it was a million dollar deal, it was his deal. It was an honest question, which I would have never asked if I had not handled the situation exactly opposite, at the exact same time. I do not think SDarkRage is dishonest, but it does take a common set of social rules to have a functioning group, which is why I asked what most people believed was the best method of selling an item. I used the word "best" for a reason, I did not use the words honest or legal.

I would have handled it differently if I’m your first message to me went something like “I want this bullet puller, but I’d like to know what the size of the collets are and how much shipping would cost.” That message implies express interest in the item and at which point you’d be first inline. Instead, your message was “what size are the collets?”. That implies your kicking the tires to see if you are interested at all. Your next question was “how much to ship?” This implies you are trying to decide if it’s worth paying $7 to a $10 item. Still this does not show a commitment to purchase. In the mean time, I recieved a firm “I’ll take it and a couple other items”.

By the way, I’m curious as to why if you were so hot and bothered to buy this, why didn’t you purchase it off me the previous 4 times I’ve had it listed?

I haven't bought or sold allot on this board, what dealings I did have were great and worked out well for everyone. Can't say the same about CraigsList, here I can take the posts or emails in order and odds are people will do what they say.

1. i sell it to whomever i want to, in any order i want to, as long as no one before them has unequivocally said theyd "take it" fuffilling all they terms I set in the original ad.
Ill pass right by known dickheads or guys with moronic negotiating ploys

I pretty much do this. When I sell something, I'm not trying to make a lot of money so I try to keep it simple and convenient for myself. There are a few people that I've dealt with in the past that I don't mind making a drive for or holding something for because I like them. But...there are some that I'm willing to pass up a sale on because they've been jerks.

I’ll take the first “i’ll Take it” over someone asking questions, whom may or may not want it depending on how I answer. Also, local FTF trumps shipping, in my book.
I’ve had a slight issue here once, don’t even remember the details. But for Craigslist item, whoever gets to the item cash in hand can have it. Way too many tire kickers there to even remotely think about holding an item.

Here, but occasionally There.
I make sure to tell #1 and #2 about each other. Them knowing that someone else is interested will generally speed up negotiations, and it's fair.

Sometimes, I will just let them battle it out in a Sporks deathmatch and make them EARN that Ross Perot commemorative edition Snuggie.

Oh, MY?????

Has Ross Perot passed away??? If so, that commemorative edition Snuggie ought to be worth A LOT of money.
