Almost all of their "PSA" free float guards use proprietary nuts. As far as I know at least. I sure wouldn't count on any of them working with some other handguard. Some of their uppers are pretty good deals if you are ok with a no-name free float.
Yes and no. Many barrel nuts that are not standard AR nuts can be used with many different free float handguards. I dont believe that PSA uses FF hand guard that have to have a specific barrel nut anymore. A lot of the handguards they use now are MI handguards which aren't proprietary

The ones in their emails aren’t regular Midwest Industries handguards. And the MI I had on my last AR was a proprietary nut. There are a few standards, the A2, the old thread on YHM / float tube type, and the BCM KMR is used several places. Pretty much every modern free float I’ve seen uses their own barrel nut.

MI, Aero, Geissele, SLR, CMT, UTG Pro, Samson, Seekins, ALG, Daniel Defense - all use proprietary barrel nuts.

Handguards should interchange between 5.56 and 7.62x39, barrel nuts may be proprietary to handguard.
CPD GEN 3 7.62X39 mags are the most reliable mags for this caliber.
I have 3 AR's built in this caliber and about 5500 total rounds among them.
Extended firing pins and heavier buffers combined with cpd mags, quite often make these 100% reliable as mine are.
