Went to Kaw this evening for some evening sand bass/ hybrid action since it was dead calm, but as soon as I hit the hot spot, the wind shifted to the east and picked up to 30 mph and better. Pretty rough out there. Saw lots of fish on the locator, but only 3 hybrids were hungry.
Enough for a couple of meals.
I love to grill them as they are an oily fish and do well on the grill.

Love some Hybrid fishing! Went to Cobb last weekend, and couldnt seem to catch a single hybrid. Shad seemed hard to come by which is weird for Cobb. Wondering if a shad kill from the cold snap this winter?

It's always possible. I'm betting though that the shad will be back in their normal haunts shortly. I was at Kaw Lake a week ago and the shad were spawning right in the rocks. Hundreds of thousands of them.

Bait balls have been scarce where I fish. Sacked up the 3-5# hybrids right at dusk on Memorial Day (after dodging lunatics coming in to go out). Still didn't see much bait in that area.
