Unfortunately it seems that the hoarding hipsters are making it difficult to find many of the good whiskies.
i went to Midwest wine and spirits yesterday and was impressed with the selection. Very nice establishment and the guy working seemed knowledgeable and was helpful.
SPEC'S ROCKS! I went to one this week in Denton, TX. Man, the place is yuuuuuge, the selection is great, and the prices are better for the most part on everything.
I even found some Whistle Pig!!! Been looking for that for EVER. Things I usually buy
Sazerac rye - $28, I usually pay over $40 locally
The Balvenie Doublewood - $54, locally is now $61
The Macallan 12 year - $53, locally is over $70
Larceny 1.75L - $40, locally when I can find it, it is over $50
Buffalo Trace - $24 I think, locally I don't know, as I haven't had it until now - me and one friend killed an entire bottle the other night. He wasn't feeling too well the next day. lol. But it's damn good!
They also offer 5% off if you pay cash or debit. I usually don't pay by debit, I don't like putting in my PIN, but I spent nearly $400, so 5% was worth it this time. lol
You have to go to Wichita Kansas for the samples. Every Saturday one can do a LS crawl among the bigger stores. Probably work up a pretty good buzz as they aren't shy with the samples if you show some interest in buying a bottle.
Our Favorite place in Wichita had Crown Royal reps in there with different mixes to try with their stuff a while back.
I wish more liquor stores had a good website like this that shows what's in stock and their prices.
