Local club IDPA match at Indian Territory Practical Shooters Club in Duke, OK this Saturday 9 June. After 15 years, Rod has "retired" from Match Director, so I will be trying to fill his shoes. Something about he wants to shoot more....

Come and help with stage set up and hanging targets at 9:00 am; shooting to start at 10:00. Match fee is $15. We're looking at around a 100 round match (if you don't take make-ups.) To be on the safe side, I'd bring 3 boxes.

BRING PLENTY OF WATER. It will be hot.

I'm not familiar with IDPA vs USPSA. Do you recognize PCC or is it pistol only?
Do I need a fishing vest for a cover garment?

PCC has never been done at our matches that I know, but it is permitted. There are different accommodations for PCC that have to be made, so I would ask that anyone going to shoot in that division let me know, so I can set up the stages accordingly.

From what I read in the provisional rules, concealment garments are optional.

Here is the direct link to the PCC rules on the IDPA website. Hope this helps.

No need to set up stages differently for someone shooting PCC, especially if it's not common.
The only real difference is start position.
Meaning in PCC there is no facing uprange, so all the start positions would be pointing at the downrange burm with safety on and buttstock touching belt.
I'm gonna try to make it out, but I'll bring a pistol too in case PCC isn't allowed for some reason.

I've just heard rumor that the former RM out there hated PCC for whatever reason so I wanted to ask before I travel.

Allowing Pistol Caliber Carbines in the International Defensive Pistol Association does seem to be a direct conflict with the founding concepts of IDPA, as evidenced by the last sentence of said intent, as published in the rulebook on page 2. "Equipment that is designed with no application for daily, concealed carry is not permitted in this sport."

But yet there are a set of rules for this specialty division and it is Match Director's discretion as to whether or not to include it. I am willing to allow it at least once to say it has been done.

IDPA today ihas evolved from being markedly different from USPSA to quite a bit like it. A competitor can shoot his IDPA match in a more 1997 "tactical" fashion if they want. Likewise they can alternatively shoot it "go-fast" taking full advantage of the 2017 rules.

A few folks enjoy shooting PCC as a second gun mostly. The PCC Rules will give solid guidelines in most stages what the "start" condition should be. Each CoF needs to specify PCC start condition. I've found that always requiring the carbine's muzzle to be either straight up or down unless actually cased to be essential to avoid having muzzles flopping about (and the resultant DQ). Likewise requiring that the chamber safety flag to stay in place until LAMR and to replace it upon clearing at end of CoF. It often works best for the SO to carry the CSF through the course for the competitor. Wise to insist that potential competitors read the PCC rules as what they have or plan to get may not be IDPA legal.

Shoot a pistol at a pistol match.
Want to embrace the “I’m a fat old guy but I want to pretend I can still rip like the young pistol studs but I have to use a rifle” genre? Then shoot uspgay
