Just overhauled the wireless in my house, I have an Apple Airport Extreme, and 2 Airport Express. I bought these in late 2014, still work great, will extend your wireless over a decent area using the Express as extenders.
If you can use it, or you know someone that can, it's yours.
This is super easy to setup using the Airport utility.
