From dark to daylight with artificial light. Night vision and thermal sights are not artificial lights.
That's what I'm thinking too but as is usual with OK statutes, they are outdated and grey as hell. An IR illuminator would seem to fit quite well into "artificial light" and NV is useless without it. I think what they were talking about is a spotlight, headlamp, etc. But that brings me back to how the hell are you supposed to see to shoot them with no light, like it's said for forever? It clearly says you can hunt at night. One of my spots is mature Pine forest and you can't see your what your sights are pointed at 30 minutes BEFORE sunset. After you can't see anything at all, it's pitch black.

If I'm not mistaken, The part about the artificial light is because animals get the "deer in the headlight" look, making them easier to shoot. They cant see IR light. I could be wrong, but Id wager that's the intent.

Ok my curiosity got the best of me so i messaged the okla game wardens office to get a true answer and this is what i asked.
When coyote hunting is it legal or illegal to use night vison or thermal scopes to hunt at night.
And this was their reply back to me.
Thanks for contacting us. If you are wanting to hunt coyotes at night you must contact the Game Warden in your county to get a night hunting permit. Night scopes can be used in conjunction with the permit.

I thought that you just had to notify them via text, voice mail or email. Thought they passed it was just notification and permission was not necessary?
In times past it was at the local GW's discretion.

Quite possible, but just last year, our LGW told me it was their discretion. Of course he could have been mistaken also.

It changed last year for swine. You may be correct on coyotes. I’ll do some further review.
I just looked up the regs for hogs at night in my search and here ya go:

Night Shooting Exemptions

Only a deed-holding landowner (or a designee with written landowner permission) can register a property for a night-shooting exemption. The exemption procedure provides immediate approval for a landowner (or a designee with written landowner permission) to shoot feral hogs on the property at night.

A landowner shooting feral swine on his property at night must carry his exemption number. Anyone else shooting feral swine at night is required to carry the property's exemption number and written permission from the landowner or the landowner's single designee. Rules are more stringent during the 16-day deer gun season. During this time, only the landowner or their written designee can night shoot on the property listed on their exemption, and he or she is required to provide some type of advanced notification to the local game warden. The advanced notification can be by text message, voicemail or email. Family members (parents, children, grandchildren, sons-in-laws and daughters-in-laws) can assist an exemption holder. At least one person in the group must have a copy of the exemption while night shooting.

Feral hog night-shooting exemptions are available in several ways:

Filling out information on the Wildlife Department's website, www.wildlifedepartment.com.
Downloading the "OK Hog Shooting Exemption" mobile app for Apple or Android.
Calling, e-mailing or texting the game warden based in the county where the property is situated, or the game warden in an adjacent county.
Read the complete feral swine night-shooting exemption rules at www.wildlifedepart ment.com/sites/default/files/Feral%20Swine%20Emergency%20Rule%20%2716_0.pdf.
