@okierider requested that I post pics of this. So here it is.
It started out as a US Amy tent crate. It started out in Fort Sill, went to Afghanistan where it got damaged and then a GI there used it to ship his stuff home in. I then got it from him, gutted it out and repaired the broken corner.

Once I had a nice blank slate I added a couple of shelves and the racks. I made a base for it so it could stand upright. Then I painted them to match and hit the outside with an OD green stain to "clean it up" yet retain the worn look and the well earned scars from service.

Heh, with a padlock it's more secure than a StackOn and I can't afford a "real" safe right now.
Have to do what you can do. I lost a fine collection to a thief from a wood display case that was easily breached several years ago.
The only good thing was that I had great insurance and although I didn't get as many back, the quality of firearms went up exponentially when replacing the stolen guns.
Family heirloom guns cannot be replaced though.
