I don’t get it; what are we SUPPOSED to do?

Deport them, all of them

Actually we can’t by law. If they come for asylum they have to appear before a judge to see if asylum is warranted.
Unfortunately, the coyote’s that bring them to the border along by with kids that are sometimes not even their own carefully coach them about what to say to claim they need asylum sometimes by American activists!
The kids must be separated by another law while the parent is detained awaiting an appearance before the judge which may take awhile.

While this video deals with the problems in the EU, the idea that the immigration attorneys and NGO's are active in the effort to dismantle the state is unmistakable.

Hungary's solution is to allow a "transit" zone within the border but before their fence. The fence, has not surprisingly cut illegal immigration by 100 percent. So if an illegal is detained they are sent to barracks in the transit zone to await their hearings. They are also free to leave the country. Surprisingly most don't choose to wait around for the hearing. Since they are technically still in the country, the NGO's attorneys can't use the saw of being deprived access to beat up the state. Perhaps this is just moving them down the road, but down the road they go.

An interesting idea, but European borders differ from ours in that there are multiple other options available in fairly close proximity. Those coming from the south of the US only have one viable option: back to Mexico, and a long trip further south and back to the shitholes from which they came.

Yes we need to streamline this process.

And if we gave them the option of going back, they'd take it and try crossing again the next day in a different spot and probably be successful. Then they just have to get to a sanctuary city and get their benefits all setup. Not real hard to do.
