Concealed Carry Match

We are trying something new -- a match specifically geared for concealed carry on the first Sunday of the month for July, August, and September.

Highlights:

It will be USPSA rules with IDPA SCORING

There will be four categories for gear: concealed or open holster and high capacity or low capacity firearm with 10 rounds being the delineation. This is a concealed carry match and all gear used should be practical in nature and something that you carry daily. No cross draw, shoulder holster, small of the back (typical 4 or 5 o'clock is fine) or pocket holsters will be permitted.

The number of stages is dependent upon the amount of help setting up the match but we will have no less than 4 stages and always make an effort to have 6 stages.

Price is 20 dollars for non members and 15 dollars for current members.

Participants should bring a minimum of 150 rounds and would be better off with 200.

Acceptable calibers are .380 ACP, .38 special, 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 Sig and .45 ACP.

Match set-up will be starting at 2:00 and hammer down at 3:30 -- help is ALWAYS appreciated and essential to success!

There may be additional information as we go -- refining matches to best suit our competitors' needs and practicality.

Come on out and give the match a try

This is a great outdoor match folks. Perfect opportunity to actually draw and fire your carry gun at targets when your not standing behind a boring shooting lane. You will be moving and shooting.
Give it a shot and give your carry gun some actual practice.
You may be surprised at how many misses you get under the pressure of a timer.
In your mind you have it down when SHTF, but it's time to prove it.
Test the mouse gun you carry.

This sounds like a great event. Not even so much as a competition, but just to see how bad most of us are with drawing and engaging with our CCW. I hear @gerhard1 talk from time to time about shooting on his range and practicing defensive pistol drills, but I am sure most of us just go to the range and shoot at the target. I will try to get up there and participate as I am sure I am WAY out of practice..... Thank you for the information.

If you want to use a full size gun from the hip OWB like a regular USPSA match, you're welcome to, but this match is more about getting a feel of the equipment you carry daily and gaining confidence if a situation should arise that you actually need to deploy it.

Really? You shoot a lot of USPSA matches from the hip? No wonder you missed. :). I was just being sarcastic, a match with real world carry gear is a great idea. Burk knows exactly what I’m talking about. There was a “carry gun” match at a now closed range that was very popular with fly fishermen. Real men carry what they shoot and shoot what they carry. Will they be allowing off body carry in a purse for liberals?

I know you were.
I know you, and know you're all about the spirit of carry gun. You are the only one who ever shot through your coat at heartland for goodness sake.

I really just wanted to get the message out for others to let them know this is a good way to use what you carry.
