If I remember right(its been a few years) there is an overhead photograph of the entire refuge in the lobby of the visitors center that breaks that out.

Good deal. I don’t know why but I am really itching to have an idea of how it’s broken out and how many hunters that out in each area. I’d also just like to talk with the crew up there and hear what they have to say concerning the hunt.

The times I've hunted there, (10-12 years ago) you got to meet at the meeting with the workers and ask questions, but everybody is beating them to death with questions, so your advanced trip for a one on one is a great idea. One thing I've found is to heed their advice. My first hunt there was in H area, with a milo field on the west side that was out of bounds. He pointed out a rarely used two track in the photo and said to sit there and wait for the deer to move to the milo for morning feeding. I did that, and had my deer 5 minutes into the hunt. The other three guys didn't believe it and spent the next day and a half wandering through the woods with two of the three finally shooting a fawn for their antlerless.

@Porter & others - I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to seeing pics. I'm afraid I wont be able to be there, as both my hunting buddy and I have medical issues that will keep us out of the field. I was really looking forward to meeting some new folks from OSA (as well as the hunt!), but I guess it just wasn't meant to be this year. This is the first time ever that I have drawn into a controlled hunt and didn't make it there. That's always been one of my pet peeves - people who draw into a special hunt and then don't show. Sorry. Life happens.

My daughter hunted Salt Plains this weekend. We started with great promise as she had her doe down 2 hrs into the hunt. That was the highlight. Only saw 2 other deer all weekend. The grass is tall, everything is flooded, and the duck hunters that didn’t pay attention that they were not supposed to be hunting totally screwed things up for us. We are throwing in the towel and going home to our lease tomorrow.

Oh! And the f’in mosquitoes are HORRIBLE! Thank god for Thermacel.

Sorry to hear that DRC. Hope you both get back on your feet soon!

We’ll be heading that direction tomorrow to start hunting Monday. What unit were you in? Did anyone come and educate the duck hunters?
