For some of the older farts this may not be something they want to see since this is a third remake. Original was done in 1937 and a first remake was in 1954 second remake was in 1976. But I have to say that it was well worth going and IMHO hitting a Dolby cinema version or equivalent would be a good idea. The wife and both enjoyed it.

I think this is actually the 4th remake. I remember my mother dragging me to the one in the 70s with Barbara Striesand and Kris Kristofferson.

I'd go see this one. Not that I'm a big fan of Bradley Cooper nor Lady Gaga, but they are two talented entertainers. I never really gave two shits for Lady Gaga until I saw her super bowl halftime show last year and she did this song. One of my favorites.

Well it was a great movie is all I can say. And was doing some reading last night that made it all the more impressive. Bradley Cooper learned to play guitar for the movie as well as took lesson to better his singing ability. All the music was also recorded live, no BS lip sync to something done in a studio. So when you see them sing on stage they actually did sing on stage in front of a crowd. They went to a few different places where concerts were being held and set up the performance between sets. That was all done at Gaga's request as she felt that not doing it for real was crap and when she watched movies they always came off bad with singing.

May just go watch it again myself while it is still in Dolby cinema.

I saw the one with Babs and Kristofferson back in the day and HATED it. Wasn’t sure wanted to invest the time in this one, but I like Bradley Cooper and some of Lady Gaga’s work. Plus, the Spousal unit wanted to see it.

Gotta say it was pretty good.

Couldn’t believe Cooper did his own singing.

Worth seeing

This is one I will go see. Both Cooper and Gaga are talented and the trailers look like it's better than the Kristofferson/Streisand remake, which although I like both Kristofferson and Streisand as singers, kinda left me a bit "blah" with the acting.

Like Gaga or not, she can sing.

I didn't realize it until she and Tony Bennet made a TV commercial where they sang "Baby it's Cold Outside" with separate parts a year or two ago.

Color me impressed. :drunk2:

FWIW, I've never seen any of the "A Star is Born" versions that I recall.
