Cool article in the latest American Rifleman. I remember when he came to Elreno high school speaking about driving safety. So fun but now not PC using fast draw firing blanks on stage and a fast draw contest with one of the teachers.
At a gun show years ago I saw a guy come in telling everyone he needed cash and had a 6 shooter. I bought it because he had a good price on it but didnt realize till I got home it was a Dan Combs OHP memorial model.
Glad to see him remembered.

Thank you for those inspiring videos! And especially the portion showing the M14 on full auto. I carried a full auto capable M14 in Nam and have been told how useless it was since they "climb" so badly on auto. I speak from experience that when handled correctly they won't climb and now I have video evidence

When I went through CLEET, there was a video library at the training center. Sometimes during the lunch break I’d go watch the videos and they had a lot more of them than what I found on YouTube.

I remember one in particular where he was talking about shooting himself a second time. He told the story that he was demonstrating his fast draw and shot himself in the leg.

Shortly after shooting himself, he said he was standing there, his leg burning and blood running down his leg and then told the spectators (I don’t remember the exact wording, but what I remember was this).

“Ladies and gentlemen, you have just witnessed the fastest draw you wil ever see in your life. I have just drawn my revolver, pulled the trigger and reholstered before the bullet could come out of the barrel and I have just shot myself in the leg.”
