They do not have to allow you on their land to get to yours.
I was told by an attorney that it is not legal to sell landlocked land in Oklahoma; there has to be an access easement somewhere.

Now, just because there's an easement, that doesn't mean it's practical for access. My dad was forced to allow an easement on some land he owned for a parcel behind it. The guy wanted it right up the middle, and, I gather, was kind of a dick about it, so my dad granted the 12.5' easement on the east property line (the neighboring property had to grant the other half for the easement). That'd be the one that crossed the 20' deep and 50' wide arroyo.

When he sold the place, there still wasn't an access road...

You might also consider checking with the Sheriff's department down there. While I don't know anything about that area, I do know that there are certain parts of SE Oklahoma where a Sheriff is hesitant to send deputies into certain areas during certain times of the year.
My brother's father-in-law would second that. When he was looking at buying some land around Durant, his wife made him talk to the sheriff about one of the places they were considering.

It got marked off the list after he talked to the sheriff.

Land is cheap....and so is life around the area. Forget about deer hunting on "your" land, since the locals have theirs in the freezer before season begins (I don't blame them either, as many families would go hungry.) Meth labs are common, as are other "elements". The locals hate tourists, which is what you would be. Some went in, and never came out.

I have had family there for over a hundred years. Those that leave seldom go back to visit.

Is it really that bad? I’ve been down in some of those areas with cheap land and there’s nothing and no one out there as far as I can tell. Maybe it’s different closer to small towns.

As with anything, there are extremes. Some areas are worse than others, while some are “okay.” Suffice it to say there is more bad than good in that area.

Man, I had no idea it was that bad there. I've visited down there but was on private acreage so didnt see much else except the woods. I guess that solves that...not looking to get into disputes with meth heads and squatters.

At one time Antlers held the title of murder capital of the US per capita. The pot growers were always raiding other fields it seems.
