If you have never had a "car dog" you wouldn't understand. We had to put our last baby down after 16 years of devotion and she liked nothing better than riding someplace in the car. Her first car trip was when we drove to Maryland to go get her just after she had been weaned, 1500 miles back to Oklahoma. At the time I doing a lot of traveling and before she was 3 she had been to all 4 corners of the US plus Canada. She was a "car dog" and loved nothing better than going on a trip. I could sure see her liking a trip like the guy did for his dog.

My old. Bulldog is 9 now. He is going to be on borrowed time in a couple of years. If you don’t know, English only live about 11-12 years. This one has had some health issues associated with the breed. Makes me sad to think my old buddy isn’t gonna be around someday. I’m just trying to take as good of care of him as I can, and make him feel as happy and loved as I ca

I put down our last Boerboel on my birthday last month and buried him in the same berm our female was buried in last year.. I choose my birthday so that I won't forget the day.. He came close to 13 years but his loss of muscle and weight said we weren't going to allow him to see any cold temps and do any shivering.. Both our Boerboels were wonderful family and farm dogs, If I wasn't somewhat aged myself I'd look at getting another..

Well, hell! We are on our road trip out to Tulsa for two weeks via Telluride and Colorado Springs and we have our 11 year old Boxer, Dozer. He loves road trips and is always extremely anxious for days when we start pulling out the duffle bags and other road trip gear we take. When he finally realizes he is making the trip he is visible happy. Hope this road trip is not an indicator of Dozers health.

Ours spend most of their time sleeping in the back seat just like they do at home, but they are content knowing they are with us.

I don't doubt that some dogs absolutely love road trips when they're healthy.

My thought is this... how about a road trip next time you get the flu?

When a dog is terminal with cancer, he's probably not feeling like his normal fun-loving self.

Your pet, your call. However, having been in ill health a good bit myself, I reserve the right to express my opinion.
