Ya'll dig out those carbines from the safe, dust them off, go find those WML's you lost a while back, and get signed up for this. This will be very fun, informative and educational. Where else can you go run around the woods at night with guns, shoot stuff and not draw the attention of several law enforcement agencies???

Cody Allenbaugh hit another one out of the park with his October version of the Twilight Run n' Gun. He designed a course that was tough and challenging to shooters. The trail was split between the deep woods and creeks and cow pasture; the stages were simple in concept and easy to understand; targets were challenging to hit and each stage incorporated some movement. Most stages were combination rifle/pistol and ammo management was critical to success on each stage.

Like the inaugural Twilight RnG, shooters did two laps on the course, with even numbered shooters engaging even numbered stages on the first lap and then odd numbered stages on the second lap. Odd numbered shooters did the same with the odd numbered stages. This layout prevents wait time and allows the match to run very smoothly. I had less than 5 minutes of wait time for the entire match.

Cody used a combination of tape, painted trees and Neo Loon lights to mark the trail. I only had a couple times where I needed to look around to find a marker, and those time were on my second lap where I was starting to fatigue.

It was near perfect weather for a nighttime RnG, clear and cool. A big waning gibbous moon provided some illumination a little after start time. . Cody continues to come up with excellent RnG's and is enjoying reputation as course designer and match director.

I shot pretty well, but my Streamlight HL-X decided to become intermittent during one of the stages requiring me to resort to a backup handheld light costing me lots of precious time. I ended up in 3rd place behind a couple young, fit guys that could shoot.

Rumor has it there will be another Twilight RnG in May of 2019. Night RnGs allow a competitor to test out his equipment and set up for low light/no light operations. As far as I know, the Twilight RnG is the only RnG done at night and it's a rare chance for folks to run around the woods at night and challenge themselves. If you get a chance, sign up for the next one.
