All I have shot is paper with mine I’m having problems with coyotes where I deer hunt it’s in the timber so farthest shot may be 75 yards
Never shot one, but I never could figure out why someone would want a BB sized firearm.

For 100 yards or less, I'd much prefer a .22mag. And I'm guessing the ammo is easier to find (and probably cheaper - dunno).

Just my two cents. :drunk2:

It’s a lot more accurate than my 22mag and I just want to hunt with it

I used to think tiny little bullet can't do no killin'
Now I feel tiny little bullet sure messes up some meat and kills just fine.
Buddy shot a small buck through the neck with 16" barrel AR 5.56 with 55gr Vmax and you could pass a D cell flashlight clean through the neck. In one side and out the other.

All those old guys that hunted for meat and were dirt poor would kill Deer with a .22
I have killed Hogs 250+ lbs with a .22. The 17 I feel would do just as well.

I’ve got a couple AR’s set up with Alexander Arms 17hmr uppers, and as a matter of fact, they are the only AR’s I ever shoot. The one I shoot most is set up with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14, and I’ve shot a bunch of coyotes and crows out to 150 yards. I’ve also killed several pigs under 50 yards with head shots.

I know the 17wsm is a better round but don’t underestimate the hmr for varmints.:thumb:

It will work. I kill a bunch every year I don’t use anything smaller than .224” centerfire myself. 22 Nosler and 220 swift with heavy for caliber bullets. 77gn are my favorite. I’ve killed them with everything from 17mach v to 375h&h and about everything in between. My favorite is still a 7-08 ackley with 140gn bullets. For longer shots and damn hard to beat 2oz of bb out of my 10ga. I’ve made some poor hits on running dogs and always recovered them. Except while checking a trapline I don’t use a rimfire on yotes or cats anymore. Just personal preference you’ll be fine with that choice.

Don't use the .17HMR on Squirrels. Trust me on this unless you know how to "bark" them.

I actually shot one with mine. Probably about a 30 to 40-yard shot. Got lucky (... I mean, "I'm damn good!" ...) and made a direct head shot, right behind the left ear. Really didn't tear much up, but then I never was into squirrel brains!

Yep, head shots only. Body shots not so much.
