I'm just wondering if it's legal to shoot a bb gun in the backyard in Lawton ok. In some places it is, in others it isn't. I just want to be on the safe side. (.177 Steel bb & C02 if it matters)

16-4-4-466 - Discharging firearms and other dangerous weapons—Exception.

No person shall discharge any firearm, rifle, CO2 gun, air gun, BB gun, or slingshot.
B.
This section shall not apply to the following circumstances:

In necessary self-defense of persons or property;
2.
A law enforcement officer in the performance of his duty;
3.
For the purpose of target shooting or practice on a range operated by qualified personnel; qualified personnel shall consist of either a certified firearms safety instructor, rifle or pistol marksmanship instructor certified by the National Rifle Association, or person designated by a rifle or pistol club, public or private school or military agency;
4.
For the purpose of target shooting on private premises with air, spring or CO2 operated BB, pellet guns or slingshots if:
a.
The target area is enclosed in such manner and with materials that will stop the projectiles;
b.
Such target shooting is supervised by an adult at all times; and
c.
Any safety precautions recommended by the chief of police are complied with.
5.
In an area recommended as a hunting area by the state and approved by the chief of police. Such area shall be posted as required by the chief of police and may be closed at any time by the chief of police;
6.
Where a permit is issued by the chief of police; or
7.
Any military exercise or parade.

Which sucks. I grew up routinely shooting a BB in my neighborhood back yard (Houston, TX). I never thought twice about it. In fact, my dad encouraged it. My brother and I had hours upon hours of fun with our BB guns. We would carry those BB guns through the neighborhood to nearby fields for other adventures. Kids these days are missing out.

Yep, just have to do it safely with adult supervision.

Lol well....I’ve actually fired those subsonic 22 rounds in my back yard. Killed a few rats with them and one rabbit that got torn up in a rat trap. I’ve fired 100 or so in the last 5 and never a word has been said, but it’s been in my back yard so nobody can see me. The boys used to shoot a pellet gun in the yard, I’m sure it illegal but nor enforced unless you are a nuisance with it (would bring my guess)
My neighbors come to me when there are armadillos destroying yards or coyotes endangering pets or children. A 22 inch barreled .22 rifle is quieter than one might think, and, on the rare occasion that I needed a .223 Remington for song dogs, I sent the family to get pizza and shot through an open window using the house as a sniper hide and sound catcher. (Hung blankets catch ejected brass.)

When I lived in town as a kid, my dad grew show roses. Had an immaculate flower bed mulched with cottonseed hulls to keep out weeds.
Feral cats loved to go destroy the mulch and do their business in it.
He would back up into the bedroom with the screen off the back window and any cat that entered into the circle of death was dispatched. The noise coming out was just a slight pop. None of the neighbors ever complained of gunfire. Pump .22 rifle.
We have lived in the country for 30 some years now and the only time I'll go to town will be in a casket.

One of my neighbors was spooked pretty good when he saw a coyote eyeing his little girl behind the house. When he stepped outside the coyote casually walked away looking back to see if he was pursuing. I gave him a box of 12 gauge 00 buck to go in his bird hunting shotgun and told him not to fire warning shots.
