Do your range allow shotgun? If not is there any reason why?
Shotguns are not allowed on our range for a few reasons. The shotshells completely destroy the targets and frames, which is expensive to replace. Another is cleanup - recovering tiny lead pellets from a non-shotgun range is a very, very expensive venture...

At 300 yards they are not capable of hitting the frames! ;)

HAHA!! That could be true, but the plywood backstop doesn't lie. I was out there this evening on the 300yd bay shooting my .243WSSM, and some guy was out there with a ruger bolt rifle shooting .22 rimfire at the same distance. His 10 round group had 6 shots within 3" with 4 being flyers but within 10". That's pretty danged good shooting for a .22 rimfire at 300 yards. Eley ammo BTW.
We have a club member that is going to start a precision rimfire match this spring. 50 yards out to 300 yards. The guy shooting with me was tuning up for that to start.
