Did you see the report of the 700+ troops stuck in Will Rogers World Airport due the the snow?

Great response by civic leaders, businesses, and individuals in providing meals and appreciation to these folks. That's the kind of person I wish I was more like. There really are a lot of good people around, we just don't hear enough about them.

Here, but occasionally There.
This is NOT a surprise. I well remember the response of the citizens of Oklahoma (not just OKC) when the Murrah bombing occurred. It created what was referred to as the Oklahoma Standard. Any mention on the news about rescuers needing something saw the citizens buying up said item needed and donating.

Prior to the Murrah bombing, the wife and I only rented in apartments or a house because we thought that if her IT career needed us to move elsewhere, we wouldn't have to sell a house. After the bombing, we decided that we wouldn't want to live anywhere else. (That was well before the idea of living full time in an RV came about.)

It was on the news yesterday. Sounded like OKC stepped up and took pretty good care of them.

That’s the main reason I came back to Oklahoma after 21 year’s in the Marine Corps. The quality of the people who live here. It must be in our water or something, but people here turn-to with a purpose when they see a need. We may be rated low in a lot if the media’s categories but we are number 1 in terms of good people who are more than willing to do good things for others who have a need. God bless all who pitched in with this.

Want to have a really eye-opening experience sort of similar to this but on a grand scale? Want to do something good for others? Volunteer at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner. The wife and I regularly go down there and serve, bus dirty dishes, sweep, lift boxes, take out trash, and just help out in anyway we can. We are very fortunate to live the nice life we do and it damn sure doesn’t hurt us to let others enjoy a little bit of being waited on and served a nice dinner every now and then too.
Just go to the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner website and sign up. Do it early, so they can post where they need help as the time draws near. Maybe we’ll see some of you there.
