There are a thousand ways to say to someone you don't like them, and half of them make the person smile thinking you complimented them. The same can be said about refusing service. If someone was stupid enough to come right out and say they were discriminating against them on X protected class, they deserve a lawsuit. However, anyone who causes a scene in any establishment can be refused service regardless of anything else.

Glad you agree it’s not for “any reason.”

I did notice it looks like a self-check area and the Walmarts I have been to have it posted that a alcohol sales are not permitted in the self-check registers.
Back in November, not long after the laws were changed, my local Walmart had a hand-written sign posted that said the new laws didn't allow alcohol sales at the self-check corral. It wasn't there the last time I was there, and I didn't notice an "official" sign.

Then again, I don't like beer, so I'm not likely to run into that restriction.

And that was the point I was trying to get across.
It's the same way for cops: they can stop you for any reason, they just have to give a legit reason when asked in court later. It's called a "pretext" stop, and the court won't inquire into the validity of the pretext.

It seems like the lesson here for us is to attempt to learn as much fact as is possible before taking sides and posting strong comments. My initial impressions turned out to be pretty much the opposite of the way things have developed.

No, they can refuse service for any reason. They just can't be stupid enough to give you the real reason.

As a practical matter, sure.

But the blanket statement "Any business can refuse service to anyone, for any reason." is not correct given anti-discrimination laws and protected classes, which is what I wanted to clarify.

I wonder why not being able to hide is such a touchy subject for "public servants"?

I would certainly hope anyone that harassed anyone or their family would be held accountable for their actions, but posting someone's information is hardly a crime.

BONUS: You can "dox" me in about 10 seconds (if you type slowly) using just the information contained in this post. You won't even have to go to the dark web and can just use a publicly available .gov database. I've made it a goal in life to not be one of those crooked people that has to hide.

So putting someones personal info out there so some nutball can harass someone at their home and possibly mess with the family members is ok with you?
Sounds pretty dangerous and who ever did the doxing should be held responsible for any harm that comes to the doxed.

Voting is how you hold .gov responsible for their actions , whether it was them or someone they appointed.
Don't know what you do for a living but how would you feel about some client of yours coming to your house and harassing your loved one?
