So how does a security guard have access to warrant info?? Inquiring minds...

I imagine a name was called in and dispatch relayed the warrant hit to the officer.

Captain Bradley Rule with the Del City Police Department said it started with a shoplifter. A security guard, who is also a police officer with the Amber Police Department, was holding the man in an office until Del City police arrived.

"While our officer was in route he was told that the suspect had a warrant for his arrest," Capt. Rule said.

The outstanding warrant was for violating a suspended sentence.

DCPD responded; I'm guessing he called in the name and they looked it up.

The NewsOK article cited in the OP said no such thing. It said the security guard already had knowledge of the warrant prior to DCPD being on scene. Read below...

I read an article from Channel 5 that said the security guard was an officer from Amber PD who was working a second job.

Now we're getting somewhere...

I imagine a name was called in and dispatch relayed the warrant hit to the officer.

The answer is in the quote you provided so no imagination is required. What is required in the originally cited article is a knowledgeable journalist with a questioning mind about such things who can then also include it in the story. It really shouldn't require finding multiple reports online. It's no wonder how "fake news" can get such traction among the public today.

BTW - the final outcome for the bad guy suits me just fine and that Amber PD officer probably ought to reconsider several of his/her career choices before a more devious bad guy comes along. JMO - YMMV...

Stupid people throw their lives away. I guess they think they're disposable like a napkin or paper cup. It's a shame that two were shot by this klutz and he was shot too. Seems like they could harvest his organs for transplant.....but he can't give permission.
