Twit is something else entirely, and pre-dates Twitter (even before it was twittr). In this realm, it's the This Week in Tech netcast network (https://twit.tv/).
Yep, that's one name for it, though it has been called a hash in computing for as long as I can remember (if you used the command "hash on" in an ftp session, it would print #s to show upload/download progress, which used to be important on a 1200 baud connection).
I think it helps to search for anything related to whatever ya hashtag. Dunno if you have to hashtag each post or not. Someone here probably knows.
