Usually take a father/son fishing trip every year, been to every bass lake in Oklahoma and North Texas, thinking about Table Rock lake in MO. Any recommendations for Big Cedar Lodge or any other places around it? Will be hauling a boat.

Can't say I've ever been there, but my dad and my mom's only brother spent the day before my parents' wedding fishing on Table Rock. My dad said they had terrible luck with the fishing, attributing it to the clear water and the fish being able to see them. (They were both used to fishing in Oklahoma's muddy waters.)

My dad's cousin used to live on the shore of Table Rock, and he loved fishing the lake. He had some pretty good-sized bass mounted and hung on the wall of his office, and I think they all came from Table Rock.

Big Cedar Lodge is not an inexpensive place to go so you'll have to make your own judgement about that cost. I would highly recommend two things associated with the property. The first is doing the self-driven golf cart tour that takes you on a trail that includes a drive-thru cave. The second is having lunch at Arnie's Barn, the moved and reconstructed barn from Arnold Palmer's place in Latrobe PA. Great place to overlook the golf course.

Good luck and good fishing!!

I've been to Big Cedar twice and it is very nice place, take plenty of money. Just not my type. We have stayed in a cabin and was a lot better. Good luck on fishing.

We’ve done Big Cedar a couple of times. In the winter they discount heavily vs summer.
One word of advice, when toy see a sign on an access road that says no boats or trailers. Take that as gospel. Don’t ask me how I know.
As far as bass fishing the lake, other than spawn there are two ways to fish it. Learn to structure fish from 20-30’ deep during cooler months or night fish in summer months at slightly lesser depths on structure.
They have pretty much canceled summer bass tournaments on that lake in the summer even at night. Bringing the fish up from those depths in seconds stresses them so bad that they die after being released.
Lots of clear lakes do the same.

If your interested in good bass fishing in the summer months, check out lake Tanneycomo. The tail waters of table rock best known for cold water trout, but when one gets down around Rockaway Beach area and further downstream the bass fishing can be phenomenal. Nothing huge, but 2-3 pounders are very common and easy to catch. Shallow water techniques all summer long. Since it’s a hydro lake with current, no thermocline sets up. It’s a very underutilized bass fishery.

I’ve stayed there. Nice place for sure. But I had a better time staying in one of the many cabins in the area. Preferred the space and seclusion despite the lodge having far more amenities on the property.

I'm a cabin guy too. But it would be nice to have some of the pleasantries of a resort.

All the same, he tossed out the idea to get a houseboat on Quashita and tow the bass boat around for a week. Haven't been there in 20 years, but it sounds like fun for the rest of the fam.
