Today I bought over 500 rds of what I was told was Russian 7.62x39 tungsten core armor piercing surplus ammo. I'm really not familiar with AP ammo so I'm looking for confirmation or more info on this ammo. I was told It came in a Russian spam can but I don't have the can and there isn't any markings on the paper wrap the ammo is wrapped in. Any info is appreciated and maybe someone could tell me what it could be worth. Thanks.

Can you tell us what the headstamp reads? The picture is too blurry...Looks like it reads 9121, which IIRC is Chinese, not Russian.

It looks like a copper washed bullet like the AP rounds I’ve seen. See if a magnet will stick to the bullet itself, not the case.

Your right, I believe it is Chinese, the head stamp is 9121 and 72. But the guy who I got it from swore it came in a crate with Russian writing all over it. Did China ever export ammo to Russia? I can't seem to find any for sale anywhere. Is this ammo not available anymore?

Looks like Norinco steel core.
Lots of opinions on it. Mine is that it is mild AP. Good SHTF for penetrating windshields but not much better than other ammo. As long as you paid .25 or less it’s a good deal!

Magnet sticks to the bullet. Probably steel core. Been searching online for prices. Seems nobody selling any AP right now. Some older prices were anywhere from $1 to $2.50 per round. I saw stripper clips of chinese steel core go for $24.99 and they were sold out. That's nuts!!! I might be selling some in the near future lol!

I'll Just post it for sale when I figure out what's it's really worth

Unfortunately the magnet test is ineffective for old ammo. A lot of the old Norinco is hard to determine if it’s steel core or just copper wash steel case without being in labeled boxes or pulling and cutting a round.
I have a bunch of Norinco in green boxes labeled Steel Core but the head stamp is different than yours.

Price wise, I sold a few thousand rounds in November for right at $1/rd on GB
