Well perhaps your unit was not purchased new? Springfield will update for free. However the up date makes it not Kalifornia legal. I always do my own update using wilson 38 super steel firing pin kit. Requires turning down the pin to match the OEM taper however. Quick web search shows the extent of the issue is pretty prevelant.

Nope. Keep trying lol. Quick reference shows it was mainly an issue in 2011-2012 when they first came out. Either way, hate to break it to you.... but both my 9mm and my .40 were reliable.

You must remove the factory firing pin and spring if you intend to use it as a self defense gun. Otherwise you run the risk of what folks call light pin strikes. These are actually pieces of primer filling the firing pin tunnel. Due to the pin not dwelling long enough after firing. This is a result of trying to pass the Kaliforniastan drop test

Do you have anything as far as a source for this? I’m having a hard time understanding this whole issue of pieces of primer in the firing pin tunnel. I’m also not getting why the pin is not dwelling long enough. And that bit about the CA drop test? You lost me there too. Sources; we need sources of information please.

I bought the EMP 4 Concealed Carry Contour in 9mm last summer and absolutely love it. I have close to a thousand rounds through it with no problems. Great firearm.
