The Chiefs are politicians more than officers. As I understand he retired from the PD a few years ago was we re-hired by the City as a Civilian administrator.

I’ll ask just so I know should it appear while reaching for something within the car, but will subsequently say thank you for taking the responsibility upon yourself to carry, them business as usual which is 99.99% of the time a warning then on the way.

From just about everything that I have read/heard, IMHO there are some(NOT ALL) of the police administrative brass that are more of a political animal than they are a defender of law/order and the 2nd Amendment . They are all worried about their media coverage, getting .gov grants, carrying water for politicians, getting re-elected, etc., etc.(I give you the likes of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel). And as was said before, the majority of the rank and file/on the street LEOs are for defending the rights of law abiding citizens and allowing law abiding citizens to defend themselves with firearms(there are a number of exceptions to this group as well).

I heard the same arguments when they legalized open carry. "OH MER GOSH! ITS GONNA BE THE OK CORRAL ALL OVER AGAIN!" And.... nothing happened. We still have to alert a LEO when they stop us. We still have to follow the SDA on when to pull and shoot. I just wonder from now til Nov 1st how many people will bother applying and just carry. That is the only concern. They read the law has been passed but miss when it takes effect, carry and get caught, now they are in a heap o' crap.

Did they change that with the new law? The SDA stated that when contacted by a LEO in an official capacity you must disclose that you have your SDA and that you have a firearm on you.
I think it'll do all of us good to read the new law carefully and know exactly what can and cannot be done. Then read it again.

Here, but occasionally There.
With regards to LEO's being against the new bill, I suspect that there aren't really many of them that are against it. When I was at the OSBI, one of my bosses did have the opinion that ONLY law enforcement should have guns. However, almost all of the others there did NOT have the same opinion.

As for the police chief, he is not elected, so he is more likely to be political and subservient to the city politicians. Granted, some elected sheriffs have the same opinion, but I'd almost bet that most support the 2A and thus, this new law.
