For what it's worth....hunted with a guy this weekend. He is shooting a new Maxus. Came from a versamax. He said the two guns aren't even in the same league. The maxus is soft shooting, reliable, and easy to clean.

Browning hit a homerun with the gold/maxus gas system. Same one can be found on the win x2, x3, x4.

I'm looking for a 20ga and the x3 is the only 20ga in that family....but they are a bit proud of them.

You saw the title what’s recommended???

My wants:
3 1/2” chamber, I don’t need to hear the you don’t need it crowd as I know I don’t, I just want the option

Semi auto

Camo is nice

Prefer to stick with a main stream manufacturer

All that being said I don’t think I can swing a SBE3 or berreta A400, maybe but probably not

I currently shoot a 12g 870 express 3” and 20g bps 3”.

My thoughts are that most of what you are looking at with the less expensive semiautos are going to run you in the $1100-$1300 range if you get everything you want. If that is the coin you are looking to spend I really think you need to dig a bit deeper into your pockets and get the Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus. You can find them for around $1650 or so and get one of the best semiauto shotguns made. I wouldn't compromise and spend $1200 now. I'd cut back for a couple months on some other extracurricular activities or expenses and buy a shotgun that is top quality and your proud to own.

Since your wanting a semi and a super black eagle is out of your budget the browning maxxus would be my choice. One of my hunting partners shoots one and I’ve been impressed with it. I’m a pump guy and bps’s are my go too. My waterfowl and coyote gun is a 10ga in a bps. I do have a Remington sps 10 as well but it doesn’t pattern as well and isn’t 100 % reliable like my bps.

I have owned Vinci, Super Black Eagle II and others. The one I prefer that shoots 3.5" is the Winchester SX3. It eats everything and is the softest shooter to me. Maybe it fits me better but I like it the best. The inertia guns are easiest to clean but are more expensive and kick harder.

I use it a lot. It’s a great coyote gun. Lead bb will crush a coyote out to 60 plus yards. My contest partner turned me on to it. I have a 12 as well.
