Hey, MoBoost, what do you mean by "patterning"? I'm kinda new to the bolt gun thing. I'm just getting interested. I only just looked up "MOA". Mind giving a little crash course on what to look for in a bolt gun?

I think he is using "patterning" to imply the similarity of the groups to a shotgun pattern. His standards are higher than mine, and I could show you some real "patterns" from a 22-250 that I am trying to sort out.

There are lots of different applications for bolt guns. What do you want it to do? How much are you interested in spending?

I'm doing a 22-250 build on a Savage 110. Still getting some of the parts. This is going to be a switch barrel for playing with different load development.
Started out as a 270, I'm adding the 22-250 barrel to the mix and then am going to add a 300 win mag with brake to the mix. Headspace gauges are cheap
and once you have the barrel nut wrench, the rest is easy. The bolt head for the belted mag stuff is about $26.00 and is also an easy change. The 270 barrel
is going to be surplus as I already have a 110 in 270. You need to know whether your receiver is for large shank or small shank when ordering the barrel and
wrench. I am staying with the small shank for this project as that is what the donor receiver is. Love the accutrigger.. Blitzfike

Nice work on the Savage. what does it weigh? I am doing a Savage build too. I'm starting with an 11 in .308, re-barreling to .260 Rem and putting it in a McRee chassis, among other things.

I have a Savage Model 10 Tactical (gift from ex-father-in-law) that I have hunted hogs with for the last two years and it is incredibly accurate with the 168 BTHP match grade ammo. I have only missed one hog (did not have scope in right place on 300 yd +shot) and I don't shoot rifles...unless I'm hog hunting. It's a great gun to start with.
