Have you guys ever tried to shoot long distance with the scope above the barrel that high.
I have and it sucks.
But I did not have a bipod. Just front bag on an AR10. 200 yards was tough to hold exactly on the dot.
300 yards and forget it the wind was blowing about 15-20 and rocking me just enough to make me not want to pull the trigger.

The scope on the above gun is a little lower than what was on the AR I was shooting.
Something you must do to find out.
Mount one really high and see if you can hold.

From the prone position with a bipod, rear bag, and adjustable cheek piece its easy to shoot with a scope that high. With your natural point of aim, often you'll find your sight picture is rock steady with no undo muscle pressure applied to the stock anywhere.

But I did add a KMW adjustable cheek piece to my existing Manners stock due to what you're talking about.

From what it sounds, they are selecting barrels that meet certain air gauge requirements. Much like they did years ago in selecting NM barrels for the M1 and M14. I'm unsure what those requirements are but at least you're getting a selected barrel. Now, an air gauged barrel in and of itself does not guarantee an accurate barrel but it is a step in the right direction.

To meet Select Match Grade criteria for Shilen barrels, the groove diameter must air gauge within .0003" of their standard diameter. Moreover, the uniformity of the bore cannot vary more than .0001" for the entire length of the barrel.

Now these Remington barrels won't meet Shilen standards but at least APO is air gauging them and culling the ones that don't stack up.

Shilen match grade barrels are what I use in my .243 WSSM rifles. Lazer accurate.

I bought an APO M700 Saber from Cabelas when they dropped the price on them. Dont buy the part about the trigger being set to three pounds. Even with the adjustment screw backed all the way out it is still heavy for a precision bolt rifle! Ive seen vidz on how to get the trigger down to around two pounds but to do that I would have to disassemble the chassis so I am just going to deal with it.

If you bought it from Cabelas you didn't get the rifle I'm talking about. You get it from here https://www.ashburyprecisionordnance.net/snipers-hide
If it doesn't have the Snipershide logo on it, its the basic APO M700 Saber.
