My 340MP doesn't read that on the barrel. I did see in the article that Lucas posted it read all 340 etc. So now I've gotta dig out the manual.[/QUOte

Right. Got it. I know what not to do; and I didn't. I didn't find the potential problem until I cleaned it. I'm going to shoot .38 specials through it on Tuesday then see. If all is well, I'll function test it, load it appropriately, and have it for those times I need a small, lightweight revolver for my pocket. I may go ahead and replace the cylinder anyway. I see I can get a Ti one from Midway, if I decide to do that, or maybe just get a stainless steel one. and call it good.

That’s the erosion starting on the face of the cylinder. No wonder why the seller wouldnt post or send me a picture of it when I requested it. I hope S&W will warranty it, I don’t know if they take care of someone other than original owner.

Well, I might have come out on the short end of the stick it seems. We’ll see. I broke one of my own rules: never buy a dirty gun.

I dunno...I'm gonna go buy some regular old standard pressure .38's here in a bit and go shoot it tomorrow. I'll see what it looks like after that. Oh and of course, pics. I'll have more pics to show cause we all like pics.

Right, because you have a stainless steel cylinder in your M&P 340 and it's okay to shoot the lighter magnum rounds out of it. This warning only applies to the Ti cylinder guns.
