Do not forget the LED lanterns. I have 5 now. 3 little Aldis $5 specials that are perfect for getting to the bathroom in the dark, one bright enough for most uses and 1 bright enough to read by.
We go old style with hurricane lamps. They only burn a quart of fuel in 10 hours or so and we have plenty on hand to get by for a long time. Do have one of those lanterns with a built in generator that can power a flashlight, usb ports, etc. You just have to crank it for about 5 hours to charge a cell phone. lol

I do not have one of those. My next purchase will be a solar battery charger for my supply of rechargeable batteries. I keep a pretty good supply of several sizes but right now have to either recharge from the generator or when the power comes back in. Luckily we do not lose power nearly as often as we did since they installed new power lines. Before that there was a fuse on one transformer that blew every time a humming bird farted.
