All that said, if only light use cut the cable and use a cellphone as a hotspot.
Is there some type of step-by-step tutorial for doing this? I mean everything, starting with what phone plan to get (I have a pay-as-you-go flip phone with no internet access).

Nephew was going to see about helping me set up something like this, then he got busy on a big job in West Texas and may wind up moving there. :/

Thanks.

My android 6 phone has hotspot but not all cellular providers allow it. So start there, see if they do allow, what the limit of bandwidth is allowed (at what download speed) then see if your phone can connect to your smart TV. I probably left out half of it Mac but I never use it so...

Sooner or later Cox is going to raise their fee for internet service and then I'll have to decide. Is it really worth around $1200 per year anyway? Especially for a retired guy.

If you're in an OEC service area, check out OEC Fiber. I was going to fire the hell out of AT$T and switch, but the time they started offering service was the time I had to move to Tulsa.
