Many years ago (30-40?) there was a news story about a guy that lived in a tiny one-room apartment somewhere up north.

He had a small wood stove, and sent off for every free offer, sweepstakes, subscription, and mailout he could find.

By keeping his junk mail all year long, he heated his apartment for free all winter.

I was kinda impressed... :drunk2:

Bad Advice! Federal crime to mess with another's mailbox. Local org put their mailers in individual USPS mailboxes by hand to avoid paying postage and was presented with the First Class Postage bill for all. Pay up or go to jail.
Breaking certain laws ain't for just anybody I suppose.

My sister-in-law once said the she didn't get any mail so I took it upon myself to do her a wonderful favor. I saved all the prepaid inserts from magazines and anywhere else I could find them and did I have a few pounds! I mailed them all at once and then she started complaining of all the mail, phone calls and people wanting to sell something. You just can't please some people!
She is the same person who takes a one hour shower and I am the same person who turned of the hot water to the shower when she was showering. Did she yell? You bet! and I never told her I did the deed, she thinks it was the odd Moen faucet that is to blame. But my heart is pure....

Take a return envelope and tape it to a bowling ball and ship that back. They have to pay for the postage by weight
I once heard from someone who said that he took the envelopes down to the machine shop at work, filled them with scrap, taped them up really good, and dropped them in the mail.

It was a win-win. The schnooks got to pay extra postage, and it helped the USPS by giving them extra money at no cost to him.

Just trash it. When I was getting all kinds of crap from AARP, I started sending them all my junk mail in their return envelopes. Haven't heard from them in ages. Haven't done that since.
