My Dad saw one on our homeplace in North Texas (Grayson county) back in the early '90s.

He was on a horse checking cattle, and at first glance, he thought it was a bobcat - then he realized it had a long tail. Probably a young one, hence the "bobcat" thought.

When I was a kid, he told stories about when he was a young man and would hear them scream at night. He said it sounded like a woman screaming.

I never encountered one outside a zoo. :drunk2:

The only one I've seen in Oklahoma was about 8 years ago; I watched it cross Hwy 20 between Skiatook and Hominy. I've seen my fair share of mountain lions in my lifetime, having lived in Washington state for more than half my life and hunting game with my father (who actually shot and killed one last season as it was getting ready to pounce him-photographs available).

All my game warden buddies can't lie to me anymore :P

Keep your eyes open and game cameras running, with all the flooding in Kansas along the Arkansas river and its tributaries, these cats moved south.

When I was a youngster my dad took us fishing along Cow Creek the Arkansas River. Every time we went he would point out the mountain lion tracks. I never saw one but my dad told us that he had seen them several times. When we went fishing he always had his hand gun loaded and holstered on his side.
