Is it legal to own one made before 1986?
I did some google searching and seems it is legal to own?
I do not like full auto.. waste of ammo.

A machine gun made before May 19, 1986 (ironic date) is transferable for civilian ownership. It has to already be on the registry. You have to take possession of it after approval with the form 4 and the transfer tax.

However none are known to have been in Civilian hands prior to May 19, 1986. If a pre 86 Glock 18 were available it would likely be worth $200K+. A new one is available to law enforcement for less than $600.

After that, it gets way more complicated.

I have shot a few of them. Dealer samples on the mid 90s, and some “samples” owned by an FFL with a SOT that allows manufacture of machine guns.

That is what most 18s are that you see available for rental. Manufacturer samples.

To be legal it had to be made or converted and registered before May 19th 1986.
The Glock 22 was introduced in 1990. Figure it out.
