Back in the very early 90's I passed a table that had at least 50 of those for $99.00 each,,,
Granted, $99.00 bought a whole lot more groceries than now,,,
But I still mentally kick my butt every time I think of it.

I had the disposable money in my pocket,,,
But at the time I didn't know the rifle would become the only semi-auto milsurp I would come to like.

A friend has one that is all original and looks like new,,,
When we go shooting he always lets me bring 100 rounds to shoot through it.

Back in the day, supposedly the best SKS's were the Russian made(blade bayonet) versions or the Chinese(Russian technicians/tooling) that had the milled trigger groups, threaded barrels into the receiver(not press fit/pinned into the receiver), etc.

Hello Kirk:

I never warmed up to the Garand,,,
Way to heavy and expensive to feed properly,,,
At least not so far as to spend the cash to purchase one.

I'm just not a semi-auto lover,,,
Especially if it has a HUGE dang magazine.

The SKS seems to twang my personal chime.
