Haven't uploaded my new photos of Craters of the Moon yet, so this one comes from some years ago. While we were at Craters yesterday, the temps were in the mid 40's and we were getting occasional sprinkles. Kind of took heart that it was my birthday yesterday and this old 73 year old climbed a pretty steep cinder cone to get some pictures. To be truthful, though, I had to stop a few times in the steepest places to catch my breath.

Craters of the Moon is interesting in that there are so many variations of the landscape with respect to what the lava and basalt rock has done, and in spite of all that, there is still lots of plants and trees.

Happy late birthday, Terry!

Good morning, All. Just a wee bit less than 2 weeks left for our Idaho trip. Went out Sunday and Monday and photographed some stuff up north towards McCall and Riggins, Idaho. (Got a treat in the photos for @Cowcatcher and others with agriculture in their background, but you'll have to wait until I get the photos uploaded to Smugmug.)

Today, we are preparing for the celebration or our cousin's (and his wife of course) 50th wedding anniversary. I was "volunteered" to be the official photographer since they couldn't find one free to do that job. The cousins began with a ceremony by a civil magistrate, and then some time later, they had a church wedding. The cousin's wife is a Filipino, so in celebration of their 50th anniversary, they are going to have a traditional Filipino wedding.

There are a number of retired Air Force guys that have settled in the Mountain Home area with their Filipino wives, so when that bunch gets together, it can be fun and funny.

OK. Got the pictures for those mentioned above uploaded. RV park WiFi generally is very slow, especially when one is uploading images whose file sizes are as large as my Nikon D810 creates.

Anyway, this object in this picture caught my attention Sunday afternoon as we were heading back to McCall, ID and our motel room. The object made me consider back and forth for about two miles or so, first saying that I didn't need to go back and take any pictures and then saying that there were folks in Oklahoma (and likely elsewhere) that would appreciate it. The considering was taking place with a change of mind occurring about every 15 seconds or so. Then, seeing a likely driveway in which to turn around, I braked hard, turned around, and headed back.

After explaining what was occurring in my mind to the wife, we got back to the "object," and as I turned around, she said, "Yeah, this is a dang good reason for turning around." I took several pictures from different distances and angles, and she took a few with her tablet from the vehicle. (I need to download her images as well, because they are as good or maybe even better than some of mine.)

Anyway, @Cowcatcher and others can enjoy the view of a cattle ranch object that is in disrepair and going back to nature. It was the fungus on the wood that really caught my eye in the beginning as it showed that things going back to nature in Idaho are much more likely to be photogenic than things going back to nature in the Oklahoma Panhandle.
