There’s a long history of some law enforcement officers planting evidence, using excessive force, and lying in reports and on the witness stand. I’ve even heard of whole police departments being corrupt and being taken down by the FBI. I guess that means cops are all hypocrites too.

For some people, reason goes out the window when they have an axe to grind.

I see you're a big fan of strawman arguments.

The "axe" only comes out when some of you start telling people how to live their lives. It's really not our fault we are preached to from a huge glass house.

It’s not the axe I have a problem with. :wink2: Also, it’s a two-way street.

To be fair to you, if you think I misrepresented your position on hypocrisy among Christians with my post about police, please clarify your argument, because the law enforcement analogy fits perfectly what you’ve said so far.

Well, to be honest you probably just don't understand it and got all huffy along the way. In a nutshell the law isn't nearly as fluid and up to interpretation as is the Bible, which is kinda scary to be honest. Surely, the laws in the U.S. aren't concrete in certain scenarios, but more so than the teachings, and especially the preachings, of christitans. Disagree? Excellent. I knew you would. Go ahead and explain the use of the bible to justify slavery in the U.S. When you get back apologizing for that one, I have many other subjects, but honestly it will be a moot point.

I hate to break this to you, but there are many aspects and historical actions, of christians that are hypocritical in nature, and unfortunately, more severe in nature. AS I stated previously, recent child molestation is just one. Therefore, I don't provide that a small number of hypocrites make for the majority which is what you are trying to relay. I provide that the bible is apparently up for interpretation, in a constant manner, and it's followers have a longstanding hypocritical nature throughout history with so many aspects of morality, that it would be nearly impossible to directly compare with a LE dept and corruption.

Here's the beautiful thing though, you can disagree and we will both be on our way. Difference is I won't be trying to tell a demographic where they place in society in terms of norms.

They don't see it. The best that can be done is to try to present truth to them. They will only find Him by seeking Him; no one will be argued into the kingdom of God.
(Matthew 18:21-35)

Bless and do not curse those who persecute you. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be conceited. I am not conceited. I am pointing out the evil that is being thrust upon us. Hate the sin, love the sinner.

But per this thread.... "we must judge"

and of course....

It just push, push, push, the more they push their sinful lifestyle upon the public, the more "normal" it becomes. Like I have said before, where does it stop? Beastiality? Pedophilia?

A non-believer doesn’t have the Holy Spirit and is a slave to sin. So, while I will never accede to the ideas of sin being beneficial, justifiable, or anything other than something that brings harm and destruction to the sinner, I don’t waste a lot of time trying to convince non-believers not to sin or even that specific things are sin. I’ll tell them what sin is and what is sin in their life, if they’ll listen, but conversion is the priority

All sin is abhorrent and worthy of death, but some sins are definitely worse than others. It’s not really of any practical importance that I can think of though.

I wouldn’t consider homosexual acts worse than any other fornication, or only slightly so. And homosexuality itself isn’t sin any more than heterosexual temptation is sin. It’s choosing to engage in sexual thoughts and acts that is sin. I also personally believe men embracing effeminateness in ways that deny their created sex can be sinful.

"All sin is the same"

"Sin is different in severity"

Such a perfect message we receive.

There are solid responses in this thread about all sin not being the same and fairly judging. Imperfect people are going to produce an imperfect message. None of that reflects on God. If your assertion is that all Christians should be the same and agree on everything, then again, that is an easy win much as the same as saying an entire group is bad because it has bad apples. If it has people in it, it has bad apples. JD8, if you want to see Christians as always doing wrong and always being hypocritical, that is your choice, but a fair look would show that they also do a lot of good. Either way, I wish everyone in this thread the best.

To the original topic. You don't have to throw religion, differing views or lack thereof in the mix to think the video is weird. Does the entire world need to repeat the 6th grade to remember that beard or no, the absence of a Y chromosome makes her a she?
