In store could be different, depending on region and district. Working at lowes I discovered this long time ago its different store to store. Check the website, get a item number and call the store to see if they have it in stock and if its that sale price. Websites like one posted is just a relay site, relays info and it may or may not be correct, always check the stores website or check in person or call to accurate info.

On the other hand far as craftsman quality, yes over the years they went down. I was kinda glad to see lowes pick it up, and start carrying craftsman. Tools you can take to the lowes for warranty exchange, outdoor power equipment has to be sent off for repair no exchange unless you bought new in store. I did find out something today talking to a carftsman rep about a issue with a product we 4 returns on. Craftsman name is licensed which means if a mower has a honda engine honda made it not craftsman. Now I don't know how true it is but its what she told me. Something about a X being in the model number means its a licensed product with the name craftsman branded on it. Kinda makes me lose hope in craftsman now again. We are having issues with the self propelled mowers belts popping off, belts too big not working at all. Think the rushed them out the door for the season and QC went out the door. Its not lowes fault, its the company that made it, lowes just buys and sells it for a customers. The craftsman walk behind weedeater machine has a issue too, again wrong belt too big won't spin the string head, so if anybody buys one open the box and have them check it.

If anybody has questions about the products at lowes or even in general garden stuff, sprays, mowers, mowers parts I can assist you. I also know how to work on outdoor power equipment. And can also look ahead to upcoming sales ahead of time.

Craftsman technically hasn't ever made anything. They just had things made for them, put their name and warranty on it for Sears. Same as Kenmore for Sears appliances. All their tools were made at USA forges until the late 90s I would guess. Easco was a major forge they used for years. For a long time Waterloo made their tool boxes. No idea who makes them now.

After Stanley bought them I am not sure what has happened to how part #s are done. After they started making Craftsman brand in China I quit buying their product. Craftsman parts had a 3digit code then a dash then a number. The 3 digit code told you who made it for them. Here is a list that shows who the actual manufacture of an older Craftsman item is http://vintagemachinery.org/Craftsman/manufacturers.aspx

Those craftsman mowers have always been Roper/AYP/Noma/Murray/Troy Built and so on.

Can you still exchange old worn out craftsman hand tools at Lowes? I have some that are decades old that need replaced with new ones.

Hand tools yes, hammers, sockets, rachets, wrenches. You can warrenty them at lowes. Our store has a card set that explains what can and can't be exchange and how it works. If your store does not have that or does not know get them to check on it. I have looked it over many times to check myself and assist customers on what to do with craftsman warrenty exchange. Only thing is if its in a set just that tool will be swapped not the set I think is how that works. So if its a rachet socket set and the ratchet is bad just the rachet with one that is same or equal to it will be swapped.

Thanks, the tools I need to replace are worn out screwdrivers and pliers.
